Shuaibu Amodu |
Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation and former Super Eagles coach Amodu Shuaibu has dismissed Stephen Keshi’s allegations that the NFF’s contract offered him was laden with booby traps.
‘’There are no booby traps in the contract. It is a workable contract. Keshi is only crying wolf’’ Shuaibu said on his way to London with 16 other coaches and former international players for capacity–enhancing exercise. Keshi had raised alarm and described as “a slave contract” what has been offered him to continue as Super Eagles coach. “From the clauses I have seen so far, I don’t know what words to use but the contract can be described as a ‘slave contract’’, Keshi had said sparking controversies from different quarters in Nigeria. ‘’If there are grey areas in the contract, he knows how best to sort them out with his employers. It is not the first time coaches are signing contracts. They don’t cry over the contracts. They iron out things with them. Anyway, I’ve seen the contract and I think that it is a workable contract for him’’, Amodu maintained. Amodu who was the first indigenous coach to qualify Nigeria to the World Cup(2002 alongside Keshi as his assistant) also poured water on rumours that he was plotting to come back and lead the Super Eagles. ‘’I’ll never come back to coach the national team. My present job as Technical Director is challenging enough for me’’, he said.
