The National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control has commenced mobile water monitoring in Cross River State.
Coordinator of NAFDAC, Cross River, Mr Isaac Kolawale, said the exercise was an initiative of the Federal Government aimed at monitoring water quality across the country.
He said, “This idea was borne by the National Assembly and passed down to NAFDAC; and the agency is implementing it, using Emani Global Network Limited for the exercise.
“This exercise is a welcome idea; according to the Millennium Development Goal 7, which talks about environmental sustainability, water is part of the environment, hence the need to ensure its cleanliness.” He said it was important for drinking water to be clear, good, portable and of no negative effect to the human system.
Kolawale added that the result of the exercise was given to table water producers in the state on the spot because it was a mobile test exercise. He appreciated table water producers for responding to the exercise, adding that NAFDAC would not relent in safeguarding the health of the nation.
He commended the Director General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii, for the fight against fake and adulterated products in the country.
