The winners of the 2015 YouTube Music Awards have been revealed. The video-streaming site is honouring a mix of talent ranging from Drake, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, and Beyonce to emerging artists such as Sam Smith and Hozier. The 50 winners have been chosen based on their YouTube views, subscribers, and engagement over the last six months. Popular videos released this year include Taylor Swift's Shake It Off!, Sam Smith's Only One, and Beyonce's Partition. For this year's ceremony, YouTube is switching things up.
Instead of hosting a live show, some of the award-winning artists are coming together to create nine original music videos which will air during the online event. The new content will be created by musicians including Charli XCX, Sheeran, Martin Garrix, Max Schneider, Migos, Megan Nicole, Cahoots, Nicky Jam and Shamir. The ceremony, in which the original clips will debut, will take place at 10 a.m. PST on March 23.
And a few fans will get to join the fun behind-the-scenes, as others will be asked to be a part of the videos. For the winners announcement, YouTube noted their site has reached 47 billion views, 164 million subscribers, and 1600 videos uploaded in the last six months. A montage of the innovative talent was also featured.
