Naomi Campbell finds it 'grounding' to show no reaction. |
The British star is one of the original 90s supermodels and remains close to fellow fashionista Kate Moss.
If there's one thing she's learnt throughout her lengthy career, it's that speaking up is not always the way forward.
“[I've learned that] silence is good,” she explained to vogue.com. “It's grounding not to react, it strengthens you.”
Naturally Naomi is a front-row regular and yesterday graced the crowds at Burberry Prorsum's London Fashion Week presentation. Creative director Christopher Kane chose her outfit, which consisted of an embellished gold skirt and a shaggy white coat.
It fitted the glamour Naomi is known for, but the 44-year-old insists she's just as much a fan of casual attire.
"When it comes to personal style, I love pencil skirts one day, and sneakers the next,” mused. “I'm not predictable.”
Naomi has sporadically acted throughout her career, appearing in The Cosby Show and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Her last movie role was in 2009 drama Karma, Confessions and Holi, but now the model is back with a part in TV series Empire.
In the Lee Daniels venture she plays the stylish Camilla Marks, among a cast that includes Terrence Howard and Courtney Love.
“I've known Lee for a long time but when he asked me to play the role, I wasn't sure,” she admitted. “I'd kind of given up on acting.”
Luckily Naomi has friends like Diane von Furstenberg to call upon, with the designer encouraging her to give it one last shot.
